Job Responsibilities

Viasat has multiple fast-growing, unique businesses with a range of growth opportunities and strategies that need in-depth analysis and evaluation. Viasat’s strategic business development team works closely with the company’s leaders to develop and execute strategic initiatives that will drive Viasat’s domestic and worldwide growth.

The Strategy and Planning Specialist will collaborate with teams across the business groups to deliver insights, reports, and data products to improve business results and enhance Viasat’s ability to grow and achieve its goals.

The ideal candidate is deeply analytical and understands B2C sales and business processes, in order to deliver forecasts, and satellite capacity modeling and enable data-driven decision-making by key senior leadership. You can quickly develop the ability to translate complex data into insights that result in actions. You will engage in an exciting array of high-value opportunities with access to engineering and business teams, by assessing Viasat and third-party technologies to fuel business opportunities within Viasat. This person will possess the ability to lead, execute and thrive in situations that require creative problem solving, high attention to detail, and sound strategic judgment.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Identify, and evaluate strategic opportunities.
  • Analyze offer vs demand for internet services using market intelligence.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports, perform analysis of forecasts, actual and variance.
  • Manage capacity resources and create recommendations.
  • Use analytics to improve business effectiveness and understand causality and drivers of success.
  • Build effective cross-functional relationships with colleagues from product, service, sales, engineering, legal, regulatory, tax, and business management.

In addition to strong leadership capability, achievement of our success objectives requires strategic agility, program management skills, and a deep interest in sales and performance optimization. You are a self-starter who can operate both tactically and strategically. It requires excellent business insight, regional expertise, creativity, and technical aptitude.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in market intelligence, planning, and analysis in the telecom industry.
  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • Advanced skills with GeoMarketing tools/maps.
  • Advanced experience with data analysis (Power BI, Python) and report automation.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Wide knowledge of different business models and the creativity to continuously explore new and different financial models, metrics, and valuation methods.
  • Experience with forecast management and tracking
  • Able to articulately present and debate strategic recommendations with senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a particular passion for technology.
  • Experience in a subscription-based consumer (B2C) and business (B2B), and familiarity with the customer lifecycle and customer journey.
  • A collaborative mindset, sense of curiosity, and, desire for impact.
  • Excellent communication skills in both writing and speaking.
  • Demonstrated success working cross-functionally in matrixed organizations.
  • High tolerance for change.
  • Very proactive and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in Portuguese.
  • Advanced fluency in English required.

Preferences

  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience in a satellite organization.
