Overview

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related professional experience;
• Mutliple years of experience as an analyst or engineer in the data/BI space;
• Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools;
• Experience with SQL;
• Experience in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing;
• Experience collecting and reviewing demographic data across multiple countries;
• Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) who is passionate about using data to drive critical business decisions for Amazon Studios Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team. As a Senior BIE you will be leading the analytic technologies to give our internal customers flexible and structured access to data that is timely, accurate and actionable. The work will be focused on understanding, through global DEI data, how we are reflecting and serving customers of… all backgrounds. You will also partner with senior leaders throughout the organization to drive insights and measurable results. Leveraging your passionate for data, you will help create key analytical frameworks our internal customers to utilize.
The core mission of the DEI Team is to ensure diverse representation of talent (in front of and behind the camera, above and below the line); working to dismantle longstanding barriers to success in the industry and inspecting our processes so we do not create or perpetuate inequities; and telling inclusive narratives and marketing those stories to a globally diverse audience.
This role will define our global DEI data collection strategy. This includes the processes for collecting, tracking, and storing data related to our Amazon Originals in a way that is regionally compliant and centering our Local Originals customers.
This role will be a part of a team of data leaders who are responsible for global data collection. Together, you will build systems and processes to effectively collect, store, and report on the data.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Develop solutions that utilize the highest standards of analytical rigor and data integrity;
• Utilize database technologies, including SQL, ETL, Oracle, and Redshift to design, develop, and evaluate analyses and highly innovative business intelligence tools and reporting;
• Create scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation, and model implementation;
• Lead projects or components from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations;
• Build business intelligence (BI) solutions – data sets, queries, reports, dashboards, analyses – or components of larger solutions to answer business questions with data;
• Troubleshoot data, analyses, and code, research root causes, propose solutions, and take ownership in next steps for their resolutions.
About the team
Our team covers both Amazon Studios’ original content and licensed studio programming, Prime Video Service and IMDb. The core mission of the DEI Team is to ensure diverse representation of talent (in front of and behind the camera, above and below the line); working to dismantle longstanding barriers to success in the industry and inspecting our processes so we do not create or perpetuate inequities; and telling inclusive narratives and marketing those stories to a globally diverse audience. This role will report to the Global Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and work across the Amazon ecosystem.
• MBA or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field;
• Multiple years of experience in a data engineer or BIE role with a technology company;
• Experience working in very large data warehouse environments;
• Experience with Python and/or R;
• Experience with AWS technologies including Redshift, RDS, S3, EMR;
• Advanced skills in Excel as well as any data visualization tools like Tableau or similar BI tools (familiarity with Quicksight or Tableau preferred);
• Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders and senior management as required;
• Experience conducting large scale data analysis to support business decision making;
• Excellent verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
